Terms and Conditions for Atih Safaris

  1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions govern all bookings made with Atih Safaris, a private travel company based in Arusha, Tanzania. By booking any tour, trekking, visa application assistance, beach holiday, or other safari services with Atih Safaris, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. The individual confirming the booking does so on behalf of all persons named in the booking and assumes responsibility for all payments due.

  1. Booking Confirmation

A booking is considered confirmed upon receipt of a 35% deposit of the total travel cost. For camping safaris and car rentals, the remaining balance can be settled upon arrival. For all other services, the balance must be paid no later than 50 days before the commencement of the tour. Full payment is required at the time of booking for reservations made less than 40 days prior to the tour start date.

  • Late Payments: If payments are not received by the due dates, Atih Safaris reserves the right to cancel the booking and apply cancellation fees as outlined below.
  1. Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your trip, please notify us in writing via email as soon as possible. Cancellations are effective on the date received by Atih Safaris. The following cancellation fees apply:

  • More than 50 days before arrival: 30% of the total amount.
  • Between 50 and 40 days before arrival: 75% of the total amount.
  • Less than 40 days before arrival: 100% of the total amount.

No refunds will be provided for unused services, late arrivals, or no-shows.

  1. Amendments

All safari itineraries are subject to availability and are not guaranteed until confirmed. If the proposed accommodation is fully booked, we will offer a suitable alternative within the same price range or higher (a surcharge may apply). In the event that the alternative is not acceptable, a full refund will be provided. During peak seasons (July, August, and mid to late December), we strongly recommend booking well in advance to avoid disappointment.

Atih Safaris reserves the right to amend itineraries, transportation, accommodation, and services due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control. Any changes will be communicated promptly.

  1. Travel Insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all clients. This insurance should cover medical expenses, emergency evacuation, trip cancellation, and loss or damage of personal belongings. Atih Safaris does not provide travel insurance and cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred due to inadequate coverage.

  1. Visa and Passport Requirements

Atih Safaris Ltd offers visa support assistance for travel to Tanzania, Zanzibar, Kenya, and Uganda. However, the final decision to grant or deny a visa rests solely with the respective consular authorities. Please note that possession of a visa does not guarantee entry into the country; immigration officials at the point of entry have the authority to permit or deny admission based on their assessment of your eligibility and documentation.

  1. Health and Medical Requirements

Clients are responsible for ensuring they meet all health requirements for the countries visited. This includes obtaining necessary vaccinations and medications, such as malaria prophylaxis. Please consult your doctor or a travel health clinic well in advance of your departure date.

  1. Transportation

Atih Safaris ensures that all safari vehicles are maintained in a roadworthy condition. However, we cannot accept liability for punctures, breakdowns, damage, or delays caused by poor road conditions.

  1. Wildlife Encounters

While we strive to provide opportunities to view wildlife in their natural habitats, we cannot guarantee specific animal sightings. Clients must exercise caution during wildlife encounters, maintain a safe distance, and follow the instructions of guides and wildlife rangers at all times.

  1. Complaints

Any complaints should be reported immediately to the Atih Safaris guide or head office, as well as to the relevant service provider, to allow for prompt resolution. If the issue is not resolved to your satisfaction, please submit a written complaint within 30 days of the tour’s completion. Atih Safaris will not accept liability for complaints not reported in accordance with this procedure.

  1. Liability

While Atih Safaris exercises utmost care in dealing with clients and their belongings, we cannot be held responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings, personal injury, or death. Clients participate in tours at their own risk. Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory to cover such risks.

  1. Force Majeure

Atih Safaris is not liable for any failure to perform its obligations due to events beyond its control, including but not limited to natural disasters, war, civil disturbances, government actions, or other unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, we will endeavor to inform clients promptly and provide suitable alternatives where possible.

  1. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Tanzania. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved in the courts of Tanzania.
